Ghostlane Setup: One App for All Four Transports

Ghostlane is an open-source VPN client for iPhone, iPad, Android, macOS, Windows and Linux. It runs VLESS Reality, Hysteria2, XHTTP and olcRTC, so one app carries every ProofKit transport, and it is the app to use for olcRTC. This guide covers where to get it, how to add your list and which transport to pick.

01 /What Ghostlane is

Ghostlane is a VPN client: an app that takes a list of servers and connects you to one of them. It is open source, with its code and its release builds public on GitHub. It was built around olcRTC, the transport that carries traffic inside a video call, and it runs VLESS Reality, Hysteria2 and XHTTP as well.

It reads ProofKit lists and lists from other providers alike, the way Happ or Hiddify do. With ProofKit, those apps run Reality and, depending on the app, Hysteria2 or XHTTP; olcRTC runs only in Ghostlane.

02 /Get the app

Ghostlane open source

One app for VLESS Reality, Hysteria2, XHTTP and olcRTC, on iPhone, iPad, Android, macOS, Windows and Linux.

Download on the App Store Get it on Google Play

The App Store and Google Play builds update through the store. The releases page has the same app for macOS (a signed, notarised DMG for Apple silicon and one for Intel), Windows (an installer or a portable zip), Linux (an AppImage) and Android (an APK, for phones without Google Play). What each system asks on first launch

03 /Add your list

  1. Connect to an exit node. Sign in to ProofKit with email or Telegram and connect to a node in the marketplace (how connecting works). The list holds only the nodes you are connected to.
  2. Copy the URL. In the dashboard, under Your app, choose Ghostlane and copy the URL.
  3. Add it in the app. Tap Add server list, choose Paste link or URI and paste it.
  4. Connect. Each exit appears once per transport. Pick an entry and connect; the first time, your system asks for permission to set up a VPN.

The list keeps itself up to date, so nodes you connect to later appear without a new link. Treat the URL like a password: whoever has it can use your connections.

04 /Which transport to pick

Start with Reality: it is the fastest. If it is slow or keeps getting cut and UDP works on your network, try Hysteria2; if UDP is blocked too, try XHTTP. When none of them connect, or only a few approved services are reachable, use an olcRTC entry. The four transports compared

On Android and on a computer, Smart connect does this for you: before connecting it checks the exit's transports and uses the first that gets through, ending on olcRTC in the same country. It is on by default and can be switched off in the app's server-list settings.

05 /olcRTC entries

  • They are marked olcRTC in the list. A node reachable through more than one video service appears once per service; keep all of those entries, because a network can block one service and not another.
  • A room has a fixed number of seats, and the app shows how full each one is. A full room cannot take you: pick another entry or try again later.
  • olcRTC is the slowest transport. Use it when the others do not connect, and go back to them when they do.

How olcRTC works

06 /If you already use another app

Happ, Hiddify, V2RayNG and Streisand keep working for the transports each of them runs (compared here). In the dashboard, Your app has a second option, Happ · Hiddify · V2RayNG, with its own URL and its own transport setting, so you can use both apps side by side. Guides: Hiddify, V2RayNG.

Common questions

What is Ghostlane?

An open-source VPN client for iPhone, iPad, Android, macOS, Windows and Linux. It runs VLESS Reality, Hysteria2, XHTTP and olcRTC, and it reads a server list from ProofKit or from any other provider.

Where do I download Ghostlane?

From the App Store for iPhone and iPad, from Google Play for Android, and from the project's releases page on GitHub for macOS, Windows, Linux and the Android APK.

Does Ghostlane work on iPhone?

Yes. On iPhone and iPad it is a full system VPN from the App Store and runs all four transports, olcRTC included.

Do I need Ghostlane to use ProofKit?

No. Reality runs in Happ, Hiddify, V2RayNG and Streisand, and some of them run Hysteria2 and XHTTP too. olcRTC needs an app that implements it, and of these only Ghostlane does.

Which link do I copy for Ghostlane?

In the dashboard, under Your app, choose Ghostlane and copy that URL. It carries every transport, olcRTC included. The other option gives a list for Happ, Hiddify and V2RayNG, without olcRTC.

Why is there no olcRTC entry for my node?

olcRTC appears only for nodes that offer it and have a free seat in their room; the node's other transports stay in the list. Check that the transports switch in the dashboard is on All or olcRTC, then update the list in the app.

Is Ghostlane open source?

Yes. The app and its olcRTC engine are developed in the open at github.com/ghostlane-project, and the release builds are published there with checksums.

Connect a node, then add the list

Pick an exit country in the marketplace and connect. Your list then carries that node over every transport it offers.
