ProofKit respects intellectual property rights. This page explains where to send a copyright complaint, what we can do about it, and how counter-notices are handled.
01 /What ProofKit can and cannot do
ProofKit does not host files or websites for users. VPN traffic runs through nodes, each run by its operator (ProofKit or a third party). It is encrypted between the user’s device and the node, never passes through the platform’s servers, and is not recorded by the node software, so there is nothing stored that we could remove.
What we can do: pass a valid notice to the operator of the node involved (or act on the node ourselves if we run it); act against an account or a node under our Acceptable Use Policy; and remove a node review that infringes — reviews are the only user-written text we publish. Operators set their own node rules, such as blocking BitTorrent.
02 /Where to send a notice

03 /What a notice must include
A valid notice (consistent with 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3)) should contain: identification of the copyrighted work; identification of the allegedly infringing material or route and enough detail to locate it; your contact information; a good-faith statement that the use is not authorized; a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are authorized to act for the rights holder; and your physical or electronic signature.
For traffic from a node, include the IP address and the exact date and time with the time zone. Some nodes send traffic out through Cloudflare WARP; that traffic shows a Cloudflare address, not the node’s.
04 /Counter-notice
If you believe material was wrongly targeted, you may submit a counter-notice to the same address with your contact details, identification of the material, and a statement under penalty of perjury that it was removed or disabled by mistake or misidentification.
05 /Repeat infringers
Accounts or operators that are the subject of repeated valid complaints may be terminated.
